1994
In 1994, after years of neglect, City of Asheville Designated The block a “blighted area”.

EMSDC was established as a Non- profit community development corporation 501 C3
to lead revitalization project.

In 1997, EMSDC received its first significant funding from the City of Asheville.

By 1998, EMSDC completed a series of environmental reviews, appraisals and property acquisitions and began its partnership with the Asheville Police Department, and 70 South Market Street was purchased with a Community Development
Block Grant.

South Pack Square Community Center was completed in 1999 and has operated continuousy as the headquarters for Eagle Market Sts. Development Corporation as its program offices and for its for-profit and non-profit business/organizational
incubation projects.

2002-2003
 

 Obtained EDI, CDBG and section 108 funding, purchased three properties:

Dr. Collette 19-23 Eagle Street, 3 Wilson Alley, Parking lot at 40 South Market St, Adjacent to the Collett and Del
Cardo Building.
 

2004-2006

Completed predevelopment on South Pack Square Redevelopment Project.

Accepts City of Asheville offer to assist EMSDC in National RFQ/RFP process to ensure highest and best use of CDC's property.




2007-2009


EMSDC selects new President & CEO
Stephanie Swepson Twitty

City Of Asheville approves recommendation for Eagle Market Streets Development Corporation.
(EMSDC) to begin development negotiations for Eagle Market Renaissance (EMR), LLC  for the redevelopment of the EMSDC properties.
